Specifically, the group is looking for a laser system that enables the following funded remote sensing experiments and research: femtosecond beam propagation and remote plasma generation for isotope sensing; air-lasing schemes leveraging novel two-color synchronized beams; spatiotemporally shaped; free-standing plasma channels in air for manipulation and reflection of different portions of the electromagnetic spectrum; and high-energy beams to study filament–filament interactions. This suite of remote sensing research problems described above utilizes different facets of femtosecond laser filamentation and involves two appropriately synchronized beams.
