## Description

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), intends to issue a firm fixed price sole source purchase order using simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 13 to:

National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) 500 5th St NW Washington, DC 20001 The purpose of this effort is to develop a plan to conduct a workshop to examine potential ways to reduce diagnostic inequities. The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) shall produce and host a workshop on reducing racial and ethnic disparities in diagnosis.

The workshop will engage a panel of individuals with a broad range of expertise and perspectives to help inform on diagnostic quality and safety. NASEM shall provide a plan, agenda, presentation materials, and a final workshop proceedings to AHRQ for the workshop. This effort will inform AHRQ’s work in developing and providing practical information and tools to help a variety of health care organizations, providers, and others make care safer in all health care settings.

The National Academy of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine is the only organization that can do this work because they are a federally chartered non-profit corporation that provides independent evidence-based insight and guidance on behalf of progress in health, health care and biomedical science. On request of the United States Government, NASEM can investigate, examine, experiment, and report on any subject of science and art.

NASEM is a nonpartisan, independent, evidence-based scientific advisory with a history of bringing together diverse stakeholders for this purpose. As this is still an emerging area of research, having an existing relationship with key experts is essential. NASEM already has access to the subject matter experts required for this work, so it is in AHRQ's best interest to support this group of stakeholders. The period of performance is 12 months. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.

If there are any questions regarding this sole source action you may contact the contract specialist, Jacqueline Vitale (Jacqueline.Vitale@ahrq.hhs.gov) no later than the time and date specified in the posting.
