The contemplated requirement is expected to include a 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods. Services are expected to include written translation to and from English and multiple foreign languages; predominantly remote simultaneous interpretation, with some consecutive interpretation, for bilateral meetings and events; related proofreading/editing and formatting support; project management; quality assurance/quality control; and two interpreters per interpretation assignment. Subject matter may include fisheries management, protected resources/bycatch consultations, seafood inspection and facility-audit communications, and related legal, scientific, regulatory, technical, shipping, harvest, processing, and international trade materials. Current planning assumptions are approximately 30 to 40 meetings/events annually, generally 1 to 3 hours each, and approximately 50 documents annually averaging about 10 pages each. Most interpretation is expected to be virtual; a rare in-person event in Alaska may occur approximately once every other year, with preauthorized travel reimbursed separately in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
