NASA/AFRC intends to negotiate a contract performance schedule extension for the AGESS requirement at AFRC with the current incumbent contractor Kay & Associates, Inc. The AGESS requirement is currently performed under Contract NND17AL01C. The work and services covered by the current contract are vital to the NASA mission and must be maintained without interruption, both at the commencement and expiration of this contract. This acquisition is made pursuant to FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)(iii), which implements the authority for 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) of only one responsible source. It has been determined that this requirement is available only from the original source for the continued provision of highly specialized services and it is likely that award to any other source would result in unacceptable delays in fulfilling the agency’s requirements. NASA AFRC must therefore ensure continuity of these services to avoid significant adverse impact to the AFRC and the overall NASA mission. A solicitation will be issued to procure these services prior to expiration of this extension. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.
