This is NOT a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this notice is to obtain information regarding: (1) the availability and capability of qualified small business sources; (2) whether they are small businesses; HUBZone small businesses; service-disabled, veteran-owned small businesses; 8(a) small businesses; veteran-owned small businesses; woman-owned small businesses; or small disadvantaged businesses; and (3) their size classification relative to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for the proposed acquisition. Your responses to the information requested will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method, including whether a set-aside is possible. An organization that is not considered a small business under the applicable NAICS code should not submit a response to this notice. This notice is issued to help determine the availability of qualified companies technically capable of meeting the Government requirement and to determine the method of acquisition. It is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or ultimately award a contract. Responses will not be considered as proposals or quotes. No award will be made as a result of this notice. The Government will NOT be responsible for any costs incurred by the respondents to this notice. This notice is strictly for research and information purposes only. Background and Objectives: The National Institute on Aging (NIA), Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (CARD) is endeavoring on a large-scale phenotyping project to characterize patient samples afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias (ADRD). Commercial CSF/plasma tests for A?40, A?42, NfL, GFAP, and pTau217 have recently been developed to use as potential early detection tools for Alzheimer’s Disease. Identifying biomarker profiles of these proteins in non-affected and disease samples will advance our understanding of ADRD. Tau proteins are essential for maintaining the stability of neuronal microtubuals in the brain. Abnormal phosphorylation of tau can lead to the formation of neurofibrarillary tangles, which are a hallmark of Alzehimer’s disease. Additionally, filament proteins Neurofilament light (NfL) and Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) have shown to be associated with ADRD. Amyloid plaques observed in the brains of individuals affected with Alzheimer’s Disease are composed of many proteins, most notably A?40 and A?42 peptides. Analysis of these biomarkers: A?40, A?42, NfL, GFAP, and pTau217 will advance the understanding of multiple ADRD. The findings associated with this project could prove valuable for early detection and secondary prevention of ADRD. Project requirements: Independently and not as an agent of the Government, the Contractor shall furnish all the necessary services, qualified personnel, material, equipment, and facilities, not otherwise provided by the Government as needed. The main objectives of the requirements are: Contractor shall perform Fujirebio Lumipulse G1200® A?40 Biomarker assay on 2000 CSF and samples. Contractor shall perform Fujirebio Lumipulse G1200 Lumipulse® A?42 Biomarker assay on 2000 CSF samples. Contractor shall perform Quanterix Simoa® N2PB (NfL & GFAP) Biomarker assay on 2000 CSF samples. Contractor shall perform Quanterix Simoa® pTau217 Biomarker Assay on 2000 CSF samples. Contractor shall in included pooled plasma reference (PPR) samples on each analysis plate for the Quanterix instrument and on each run day for the Fujirebio instrument to monitor assay performance. Unused Government samples shall be securely stored at -80 and shipped back to Government at completion of the project. Anticipated period of performance: 12 months.
