## Description

The United States Agency for International Development Mission to Southern Africa (USAID/Southern Africa) seeks a highly motivated, experienced Senior Regional Development Outreach and Communications (SR/DOC) Specialist to lead in the development and implementation of communications strategies to support Southern Africa’s Regional Development Cooperation Strategy (RDCS) for 2020–2025.

USAID/Southern Africa is a regional platform that oversees over $1 billion in foreign assistance annually, including bilateral work in South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, and Lesotho, and regional programming for Southern Africa. USAID programming in South Africa began in 1979 by supporting human rights.

Since then, our programs have expanded to increase trade and strengthen regional economic ties, and address the HIV/AIDS crisis, while supporting democratic processes, protecting human rights, and building resilience.

Across the region, USAID is strategically allocating its resources and partnering with three main stakeholders—the private sector, governments, and citizens—to catalyze inclusive economic growth, strengthen governance, and advance the resilience of people and systems in alignment with the U.S. government (USG)'s strategic objectives in the region.

Strong, effective communication and outreach are vital to USAID/Southern Africa’s ability to fully implement its bilateral and regional programs, demonstrate impact, and advance its objectives in Southern Africa. Similarly, USAID/Southern Africa seeks to improve the quality and availability of information about U.S. foreign assistance and its benefits in the region to a broader audience supporting U.S. national interests. For these purposes, USAID established the SR/DOC position, an off-shore U.S. Personal Services Contract position.
