The Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) has a requirement to replace a failed operating computer in a Taylor Hobson Aerospect SPS 2500. Taylor Hobson is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the Aerospect SPS 2500. The Aerospect software must be retained for equipment to function correctly. Taylor Hobson owns the software. In addition, the operating computer requires many unique data acquisition (DAQ) cards to operate with the gauge heads and encoder. These components must come from and be calibrated by the OEM. Taylor Hobson has no authorized 3rd party distributors for repairs or the software. For this reason, the government intends to procure this service on a sole source basis from Taylor Hobson, Inc.
