The contract will be for a one (1) year base period, and two (2) one (1) year option periods. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to solicit and award a sole source contract for the rental and maintenance of Gastrointestinal endoscopes to Olympus America Inc, 3500 Corporate Parkway, Center Valley, PA 18034. There are no other source of supply/service that will satisfy agency requirements. The Olympus scopes are already being leased and maintained at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, 3801 Miranda Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304. Remaining with Olympus scopes will eliminate the need for additional equipment, will reduce training requirements and allows the use of existing reprocessing equipment with no additional purchase of cleaning equipment or attachments. In addition, Olympus America Inc. is the only source that can perform repairs/maintenance to the scopes due to the proprietary nature of this equipment, no other company was found that has authorized third-party service providers.
