Background:** The Respiratory Therapy section is required to offer a level of patient care and support by having multiple non-invasive ventilation units available to meet the demand of our patient population who are physically unable to breath or are breathing insufficiently. The units are used for patients with sleep apnea, congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, restrictive disorders, hypoventilation syndromes, and neuromuscular diseases. The units are also used for patients who require additional respiratory support during post-operative care or step-down care when extubated from an invasive ventilator. The units must provide multiple non-invasive ventilation and high flow oxygen therapy modes, configurable alarms, and the ability to be used during in-house transport. The units must use the same disposable supplies the Respiratory Therapy section currently stocks.
