The acquisition of the virtual reality software infrastructure will introduce visually impaired female veterans to an immersive technology experience as a modality to develop a personalized health care plan based on values, individualized needs and identified goals. The platform will be utilized to provide blind rehabilitation assessment and/or training, to include visual acuity, visual tracking, contrast sensitivity, fall assessment, as well as vision-specific modifications (e.g., text-to-speech, voice commands, magnification, edge enhancements, and scene remapping). The assessments and training activities will be conducted as per the guidelines provided by the VA Blind Rehabilitation program.
