## Description

Pre-Solicitation Notice for notice of intent to award a sole source contract. This is not a solicitation. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate a sole source contract for a five-year contract with the University of Utah, Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), 201 S Presidents Circle, Salt Lake City, UT 84112 to obtain specialized research services. HCI is a nationally recognized cancer treatment hospital and research center. The University of Utah HCI core services include:

Bioinformatics Analysis, Biorepository and Molecular Pathology, Cancer Biostatistics, Center for Quantitative Cancer Imaging, Clinical Research Compliance and Education, Genetic Counseling, Glass Wash Facility, High Throughput Genomics, Library Preparation, Illumina Sequencing, Material Characterization, Molecular Diagnostics, Preclinical Research Resource, Research Histology, Research Immunohistochemistry, Research Informatics, Utah Population Database.

The HCI Core services will support research under programs sponsored by the Office of Research and Development (ORD), for the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center.

Due to the affiliate relationship with the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center as well as the specialized expertise in this area, and the ongoing research projects that tie in with specific areas required for these studies, the Huntsman Cancer Institute at the University of Utah is the only organization that can provide the specialized research services required for the ongoing . Since the intent is to procure this on a sole source basis, no solicitation will be posted to SAM.gov under Contract Opportunities.

The applicable NAICS code is 541715 with a 1,000 employee size standard. The PSC is AN41. The authority for this action is FAR 6.302.5 Authorized or Required by Statute per 41 USC §3304(a)(5).
