These components will convert existing Tecniplast caging transferred from another VA facility at no cost so that it is compatible with the Hydropac water pouch system used at AVAHCS. The requirement also includes a small quantity of replacement and supplementary caging to support daily husbandry operations, census growth, and the retirement of outdated or damaged equipment. Tecniplast caging equipment is proprietary and patented, and only Tecniplast USA can manufacture or provide components that are fully compatible with the existing Green Line rodent caging and rack air handling units in the VMU. No other supplier can provide interoperable parts, conversion components, or warranty supported equipment. As stated in the justification, no other vendor has caging systems or components that can connect to the current Tecniplast infrastructure. Because compatibility with existing Tecniplast systems is mandatory for operational, technical, and warranty reasons, only Tecniplast USA is capable of fulfilling this requirement.
