The Baxter AK98 dialysis machine was selected by the facility for standardization of hemodialysis devices across Durham VA Health Care System facilities. Staff familiarity with a standardized device reduces the risk of errors that could affect patient safety. Use of devices from different manufacturers or different models between facilities increases staff training requirements and increases costs for managing consumables, parts and maintenance. Standardizing machines ensures the Durham VAHCS biomedical team can more efficiently manage equipment maintenance, reducing downtime and operational disruptions. The AK98 is already in use at the Brier Creek VA Dialysis Clinic located at 8081 Arco Corporate Drive, Suite 130, Raleigh, NC 27617. The clinic is part of the Durham VA Health Care System. The AK98 and competing machines are intended for use by trained operators. All deliveries will be made to the Durham VA Medical Center (main facility) located at 508 Fulton Street, Durham NC 27705. The applicable NAICS code is 334510, ELECTROMEDICAL AND ELECTROTHERAPEUTIC APPARATUS MANUFACTURING (SBA Size Standard: 1250 employees). This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation documents are available and telephonic requests will not be taken. However, if a party believes it can meet supply an equivalent product it must furnish information about its capability, as well as references from other customers who are using these products and services to the Contracting Officer by 05:30PM Eastern Time on Thursday, April 17, 2025.
