This purchase will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 13.106-1(b). This is not a request for competitive offers, and no solicitation is available. Market research has determined that these items are highly specialized and can only be obtained from a single source without an unacceptable delay or duplication of cost. No other type of item will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to award the contract effective 29 April 2024 to Hologic, Inc., 250 Campus Drive, Marlborough, MA 01752-3020, SAM UEI: WHWJBKU5SX73. The Hampton VA Medical Center, 100 Emancipation Drive, Hampton, VA 23667-0001, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Services (P&LMS), requires the H HOLOGIC Panther equipment, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for COVID testing, reagents, consumables, and supplies. The Hampton P&LMS is currently utilizing the Hologic equipment on-site. The Hologic Panther System is used for molecular testing, with high-performing assay and throughput automation. This vendor is the only one on the market that can offer Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for COVID-19 testing used on the Hologic Panther analyzer. The equipment requires certain supplies that only Hologic can provide. Hologic is the manufacturer of these reagents and supplies, and there are no comparable alternatives available. Hologic will continue to support any necessary equipment services and promptly notify the service provider whenever a replacement is needed.
