## Description

This intent to modify the contract announcement is posted in accordance with FAR 5.2 - Synopses of Proposed Contract Actions. The Washington DC VAMC is modifying the contract IAW FAR 52.212-4(c) - Changes, to prevent the substantial duplication of administrative costs, significant delays in service, and fire safety risks to the government that are not expected to be recovered through competition.

The hospital's priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of their patients, and the advanced Fire Extinguisher safety monitoring system offered by the monitoring company, Fire Solutions, is integral to achieving that goal. The potential costs associated with duplication are outweighed by the potential damages that could occur in the absence of a reliable and efficient Fire Extinguisher safety system.

Moreover, the rationale highlighted the potential delays that could occur if the hospital were to seek alternative options through a competitive bidding process. Patient safety could not afford such delays, as any compromise in fire safety measures could lead to catastrophic consequences. The hospital administration believes that investing in a trusted and proven company was the most responsible decision to protect the patients and maintain the highest standards of healthcare safety.
