## Description

This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract and is not a request for quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs Syracuse VA Medical Center intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Sole-Source Brand Name only action to:

**3750 Torrey View CT City, State, Zip:** San Diego, California 92130-2622, United States Our facility currently has Pyxis ES MedStations and Anesthesia stations throughout the facility. This equipment must interface with VISTA pharmacy packages and also other BD/Carefusion products. Pyxis ES is a proprietary system so the only equipment that can interface with it is other BD/Pyxis ES systems.

We currently have Pyxis MedStations throughout our facility and also within the Rome CBOC which is where this additional unit would be utilized. We need to stay with Pyxis ES as it needs to interface with our current system and because the staff at the Rome clinic already use Pyxis. The amount of staff training and risk of errors running two medication management distribution systems would be significant.

Pyxis ES is a proprietary system therefore the only equipment that can interface with it is other BD/Pyxis ES systems. Any maintenance performed by a third party vendor, other than our Field Service Technician Affiliates, would render null and void any existing warranty and be unsupported by CareFusion Solutions, LLC. This notice of intent to sole source with justification for brand name only satisfies the public posting requirements of FAR 13.501.

The Veterans Health Administration prohibits the use of gray market items in their Medical Centers. Gray market items are considered to be items outside of the original equipment manufacturer s intended distribution channels.
