## Description

The FCI Memphis is a facility with a rated capacity of 862 low-security inmates within a secure perimeter fence. The Building I was previously utilized in a factory setting when FPI(Federal Prison Industries) used the building. The sprinkler system of Building I will need some upgrades due to the change of use for an inmate programming unit. The contractor will provide labor, equipment, and materials needed to complete the project at Building I. The work includes, but is not limited to the following:

1. The contractor will furnish and install a new backflow preventer at the base of the wet pipe system.

2. The contractor will remove existing pendant fire sprinkler heads and drops throughtout the openceiling with rotating existing pipe upward for new tees and sprinkler heads.

3. The contractor will disconnect and cap the 2-inch fire sprinkler line through the wall for the adjacent building that is being demolished.

4. The classrooms and restrooms will need the fire sprinkler heads replaced and fitted for new grid/sheetrock ceilings. See the attached approved drawings of the layout.

5. Install new fire sprinkler piping above grid/sheetrock ceilings in restrooms to add fire sprinkler coverage and adjust fire sprinkler heads for proper clearances.

6. Install sway braces, retainer straps, and flexible couplings to protect the system piping from damage due to earthquakes in accordance with NFPA 13.

7. Test all new fire sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA 13.
