THE SOLE SOURCE DETERMINATION IS BASED ON NOAA’S REQUIREMENT THAT EATON CORPORATION IS THE ONLY VENDOR THAT PROVDES THIS SERVICE. The National Water Center has a UPS System (Eaton Model #9395-275-275 Serial Number EG223BAA10: capacity 240KW, 300KVA, 240 battery cells) that provides a power bridge between our utility power and our generators in the event we lose utility power. This protects the data centers, cooling equipment, security systems, as well as most desktops and laptops. This utility component is critical in protecting the IT equipment located in two separate data centers within the building. The UPS system is now out of original manufacturer’s warranty and a preventive maintenance service contract is needed. The required services must be compatible in all aspects (form, fit, and function) with existing systems or equipment, and the Eaton source is uniquely qualified to meet the requirement. Eaton is the only company qualified to update, service and maintain our UPS system.
