Does the diaphragm connection bracket need to be on both sides of the diaphragm in addition to each end of the diaphragm? Yes Do the bearing plates need to be welded to the girders? Yes they do. Do the hardware, girders, bearing plates, diaphragms, nailer angle need to be coated in any way? It would be best if they were to minimize corrosion over time. They can be galvanization (zinc coated), epoxy coated, or powder coated Do we need to include the steel angle nailer bracket if so please provide the spacing? The nailers are spaced a maximum of 5¿ oc along the length of the bridge. They can be less than 5¿ to allow for them to be evenly spaced along the length. Would these minor design alterations fall within that delegated design? Or should we maintain no deviation from the design we have now? Typically, not.
