The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses must include complete description of capabilities to be provided and contain sufficient technical information to allow agency analysis to establish bona fide capabilities. This is not a request for quotation, and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. It must be able to have very low detection limits of less than or equal to 0.3 µM for oxygen and hydrogen sulfide (H2S), less than or equal to 0.01 pH unit for pH, and less than or equal to 0.1 mV for redox potential. It must also be able to measure chemical changes on the submillimeter scale in a column of sediment that vary spatially in the x and y planes but especially in the z (depth) plane; precision of the z-axis (depth) down to 10 µm, while on the x- and y-axes the sensor position can be manipulated with 100 µm precision. Unisense AS is the only vendor known to the USGS that can meet the requirement as described above.
