## Description

Notice of Intent This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source. This notice of intent is issued in compliance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 5.2. It is not a request for competitive proposals, but rather, an announcement of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Alaska Science Center's intent to enter into a sole source procurement contract with GEOSEP SERVICES, LLC Purpose: The USGS needs to acquire High-quality mineral separates of apatite and zircon from bulk bedrock samples, and complimentary zircon U-Pb isotopic dates.

**Justification:** Zircon U-Pb analysis is available through multiple technologies (e.g., TIMS, SHRIMP-RG, and LA-ICP-MS), only in-situ techniques (ruling out TIMS) meet the specification for only semi-destructive analysis required by the Statement of Work. SHRIMP-RG methodologies are both slower, sacrificing throughput. The USGS has previously utilized GEOSEP SERVICES, LLC lab for such work; the data produced are of high quality and offers all relevant sample preparation steps and the expertise to adequately meet these requirements.

**NAICS & PSC:** NAICS 541690 Other Scientific and Technical Consulting Services PSC B504 - Special Studies/Analysis- Chemical/Biological Response Instructions: Interested parties may submit a capability statement or inquiries electronically by the closing date of this announcement. This submission should demonstrate the party's ability to meet the requirements specified for apatite fission-track (AFT) and U-Pb analyses.

Please note that this notice is not a request for competitive quotes, and a determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract is solely within the discretion of the government. Submissions must be sent via email to Joel Berberena at jberberena@usgs.gov and must be received no later than 16 August 2024, 0500 hours PD. Responses received after this deadline or through other means (e.g., hardcopy, SAM.gov portal) will not be accepted or considered.
