## Description

This is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source for the USGS Alaska Science Center. The US Geological Survey (USGS) Office of Acquisition and Grants ¿ Sacramento, intends to negotiate a purchase order with Wildlife Computers for the purchase of seven (7) Rectangle Backmount Tags in accordance with the specifications attached. Wildlife Computers is the only known source that has the required specifications that meets the government's minimum needs.

Since 2009, USGS has intermittently deployed Wildlife Computers glue-on tags on polar bears as funding allowed. Wildlife Computers glue-to-fur tags have collected data reliably and their retention time was as expected. The tags are designed for use in marine environments and have withstood bear wear and tear as well as Arctic conditions.

Maintaining consistency in the manner and type of data that are collected by radio-tags is essential for multi-year analyses of the spatial patterns of a long-lived wildlife species. By purchasing glue-to-fur radio tags from Wildlife Computers, we will maintain consistency and reliability in the data from glue-to-fur GPS radio tags placed on polar bears.

Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a quotation by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency.

No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government. The PSC Code is 7G22 ¿ IT and Telecom ¿ Network: Satellite and RF Communication The NAICS code for this action is 334511, Search, Detection, Navigation, Guidance, Aeronautical, and Nautical System and Instrument Manufacturing.
