During hurricane season, NOAA’s heavy aircraft operate on a 24 hour deployment alert; postured to reposition on short notice due to constantly changing weather conditions. As a result, these maintenance centers require a towing system to facilitate safe and efficient movement to and from the shipping source as well as to reposition in the event of severe weather. Each mobile maintenance center is a custom fabricated standard shipping container tailored to the unique demands of NOAA operations. The towing system is a critical accessory required for the success of the mobile maintenance center concept. (I) This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice and in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures authorized in FAR Part 13.
