This contract will abate hazard trees that could impact designated travel routes on National Forest System (NFS) lands as a result of the Yellow Lake Fire. Post-fire, hazard trees present an immediate and ongoing threat to life and property. Hazard trees are trees that could strike a designated road. Hazard trees will be abated (felled) near designated features to provide for immediate firefighter and/or public safety. Once trees are felled, they become a fuels hazard emergency and must be decked/piled to be burned by FS or removed from NFS lands. Additional services to be performed include treatment of slash/fuels, road maintenance, suppression repair rehabilitation work including Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) that entails road maintenance, gate replacement, and noxious weed mitigation.
