## Description

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) intends to award a purchase order on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR Part 13.104, with Track Tag Kings, Ely, Nevada for twenty (20) Track Tag King Unit - 8 Pings for use at the National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) located in Ft. Collins, Colorado.

Chronic Wasting Disease (CDW) Research and Development legislation directs APHIS to continue working with university collaborators to provide research support to the overall effort to detect, combat and control CWD. Therefore, these ear tags will supply a project in Nebraska with collaborations between NWRC, Colorado State University, and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

The National Wildlife Research Center CWD Project aims to purchase and deploy 20 Track Tag King unit ear tags on free-ranging mule deer for research purposes. These services will be procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures).

The sole source determination is based on Track Tag Kings being currently the only manufacturer that provides the only ear tag device that is direct to satellite and provides live locations at time of ping. The anticipated total value of the purchase order is $34,000.00. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
